Invitation to the first IDEMφ

It is our pleasure to officially introduce the International Doctoral Encounters on the Middle Ages and Philosophy (IDEMφ), supported by the University of Bonn, the University of Cologne and the University College of Dublin.

Álvaro Bo (UCD), Giuseppe Thomas Vitale (UCD/Univ. of Cologne) and Marieke Berkers (Univ. of Bonn) will organise an online 'encounter' for PhD students in Medieval and Early Modern Philosophy twice a year. Each time, three early career scientists who are soon to obtain or have recently obtained their PhDs are invited to give a 'conference lecture' about their research. And each time, there is a plenary discussion to exchange ideas about doing research in our field: Philosophy and its historical context, open to any approach from a humanities perspective. In this way, we hope to provide a platform for junior academics to present their work to their colleagues in a pressure-free but at the same time official environment, and over time, to build a solid network between us.

You are cordially invited to attend the first edition of IDEMφ on Wednesday 1 March from 3pm to 8pm CET.

Enclosed you will find the whole programme, which you are welcome to pass on to anyone who may be interested, and about which we would like to specially note that it is a great honour that we will begin with a lecture by Professor Giorgio Pini and to have Professor Fiorella Retucci introduce the Round Table.

To receive the Zoom Link for participation, or for more information, please contact us via idemph@uni-bonn.de.

With best regards,

Álvaro Bo (UCD), Giuseppe Thomas Vitale (UCD/Univ. of Cologne), Marieke Berkers (Univ. of Bonn)
